Blaze at ex-fish market building is under probe

A fire that destroyed a former long-time business is under investigation by Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services, according to a news release.

The former Central Fish Market at Fourth Avenue and Walnut Street was considered a Pine Bluff landmark.

Firefighters arrived at the building at 324 South Walnut St. around 10:47 a.m. Sept. 13 to find the it fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to successfully bring the blaze under control, without any personnel or civilian injuries in about an hour.

The structure sustained heavy damage and was declared a total loss.

No further information about the fire, or its cause, was available by deadline.
