Black vote not assured

Jesse Turner

The General Election is imminent, and many Black voters will cast their ballots against candidates labeled as Republicans, perhaps not realizing that voting should be more about policies to improve their lives than a party label.

When voting, there should be an expectation of a return on investment on that vote. If historical patterns suggest being taken for granted, then it’s crucial to ensure votes translate into tangible improvements in cities under Democratic leadership.

The current attention on Black voters is primarily because they are expressing support for Donald Trump. The fear of many Blacks is ostracization for choosing to vote for any Republican. However, if Donald Trump didn’t reach out to Blacks to address their vocal demands they never would have garnered the attention of Democrats.

Democrats treat Blacks like they are illegal citizens and illegal aliens like they are citizens, meaning over the last 3½ years Democrats gave illegal aliens, who’ve been in the country illegally for less than four years, $150 billion, while Blacks have been here for more than 400 years and Democrats never gave them this kind of money or treatment.

Blacks have only gotten from Democrats emotional and ceremonial things, i.e., a Black Supreme Court judge and a federal Juneteenth Holiday, as this should satisfy Black people. These are the politricks played on the Black voters to keep them under control.

Blacks must stop voting only for skin color or the first, but educate themselves and vote on policies.

What will the candidate do to improve your quality of life and place? How will they improve education for Black children who are not proficient in science, math, English, social studies, our neighborhoods, etc.?

One hundred fifty billion dollars could have improved many Black neighborhoods, improved schools, started businesses, among other things. Do you really think VP Harris would have visited a Black barber shop if Donald Trump didn’t go? Democrats are afraid today, because if 30-plus percent of Blacks vote for Donald Trump and break the mental chains, that is when the floodgates will fly open and Blacks will leave Democrats faster than a snowball melting in hell.

It is crucial for Black voters to ensure politicians vie for their votes and not assume they are guaranteed. As a trailblazer in the Arkansas Republican Party, whose efforts have transformed the community and advanced progress for African Americans, I am compelled to express my views.
