Eighteen nonprofit organizations serving minority communities will share $50,000 in grants from the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation fund.
Administered by Arkansas Community Foundation, the grants will support projects focused on education, health and wellness, youth development and small business/economic development. The announcement was made Thursday at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
Area recipients include:
• Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas Inc. (Pine Bluff) — to provide cardiovascular/stroke education kits to patients in need of education, health counseling and cardiovascular disease awareness, in a 10-county area in Southeast Arkansas.
• Bradley County Medical Center (Warren) – to host “Safety Baby Showers.”

• Community Empowerment Council Inc. (Pine Bluff) – to develop a Male Youth Empowerment Coalition in Jefferson County.
• Daughters of Charity Services of Arkansas (Dumas) – to support the Diabetes Self Management Education program.
• Feed the Kids (Monticello) – to support the weekend feeding program for Pre-K through eighth grade students who have limited access to food when away from school.
