The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was voted University of the Year by the Black Executive Exchange Program.
UAPB is one of 84 Historically Black Colleges and Universities that participate in BEEP annually and has been involved in the agency more than 30 years.
“Because of the outstanding program format and participation from corporate executives, which included UAPB alumni, the institution was voted BEEP’s University of the Year,” a spokesman said.
Shirley Cherry, assistant director of UAPB’s Career Services, accepted the honor and as served as a panelist on “How to Maximize Recruitment Opportunities at HBCUs” recently.
Yulanda Riley, project specialist/career coach, also attended the conference.

Three students also participated in the 43rd annual BEEP Leadership Conference. They were Marion Muhammad (Junior, Business Management); Courtney Mazique (Junior, Biology) and Richard Manning (Senior, Industrial Technology).
BEEP is a voluntary partnership between the National Urban League, corporate America, government, non-profits, and other institutions to loan African-American executives to participating colleges as “Visiting Professors.”
