Billies miss upset of Bears

MONTICELLO — Sylvan Hills scored with about 30 seconds left in regulation to tie the game after Monticello led the entire time and got 30 points from Kentucky signee Archie Goodwin on Friday night in a 48-42 overtime victory over the Billies.

The victory kept the Bears (18-5, 9-0 in 5A-Southeast) unblemished in the conference, while the Billies (11-10, 3-6) fell a game behind the fourth and final playoff spot from the conference with five games to go.

“We played well,” Monticello coach Wayne Sherrer said. “We took some ill-advised shots down the stretch. We really struggled at the free-throw line as they started fouling us. We made some youthful mistakes.”
