LITTLE ROCK — The state Highway Commission chose apparent low bids on $132.9 million in road projects today.
More than 30 percent of the total was for the relocation of interchange ramps at U.S. 71 and County Road 8 near Fort Chaffee in Sebastian County, and the replacement of 5.9 miles of Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County.
Crossland Construction Co., Inc. of Columbus, Kan., was the low bidder on the Sebastian County project at $17.1 million.
Redstone Construction Group Inc., of Little Rock was the apparent low bidder on the I-30 project with a bid of $23.4 million.
“That is complete reconstruction,” said Glenn Bolick, spokesman for the state Highway and Transportation Department, about the I-30 project, which will stretch from Rockport to Social Hill.

At just over $13.5 million, Kolb Grading LLC of St. Charles, Mo., was the apparent low bidder for phase two of the Bella Vista Bypass project in Benton County.
The bypass is a proposed 18.9 mile project designed to relieve traffic congestion on U.S. 71 through Bella Vista and north into Missouri.
Construction on the first phase of the project, a three-mile stretch from Arkansas 72 west of Hiwassee, a community northwest of Bentonville and west of Bella Vista, is already under way. That $19.8 million project began last year.
Phase two of the project is for 2.4 miles and will connect with County Road 34.
