Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., and the Pine Bluff Branch of the National Association of University Women will celebrate “Go Red For Women.”
The National Wear Red Day event will be at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Bethany Chapel with the pastor, the Rev. Renice L. Davis, speaking.
“Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women because it’s not just a man’s disease,” a spokesman said in a news release.
“In fact, more women than men die every year from heart disease and stroke. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red For Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health,” the spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, Go Red For Women is also about making a change. Women can learn “What it means to Go Red” by sharing meaning of the acronym Go Red:
