Beekeeping course set in May

Jon Zawislak travels the state spreading the joy and how-tos for would-be beekeepers.

Because he covers the entire state as the extension apiculturist for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, he has to rotate his schedule to get cover most locations. With classes in Little Rock held two years ago, the city was going to have to wait ‘til later before his short course would be back.

At least that was the plan.

“I have received so many inquiries lately about when I’ll offer another beekeeping class in Little Rock that I have added another one to my schedule,” Zawislak said.

This round, which will be held at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library, will be held May 10, 17 and 24. Each session runs from 6-9 p.m. and will cover different topics, so attendance at all three is recommended.

“Seating is limited to 50,” he said. “Sign up now, because it’s first come, first served.”’
