Bears clinch 7-2A East title

HERMITAGE — Woodlawn improved to 22-3 and clinched the 7-2A East Conference title with an 11-1 mercy-rule win at Hermitage Tuesday.

Trey Hankins went the distance on the mound, recording the win with six strikeouts and allowing just one hit.

Gavin Johnston went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Daniel Rissinger doubled, singled and drove in one.

It is the eighth straight conference title for the Bears.

Woodlawn will play again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Sheridan before playing its final conference game Friday at Bearden.

Monticello 8, Dumas 7

MONTICELLO — Ashleigh White belted a grand slam to help Monticello slip past Dumas to improve to 16-4.

Madelynn Gates went 3 for 4 and Morgan Searcy doubled to help the Lady Billies at the plate.

Breanna Smith picked up the win in the circle with 4 2/3 innings of work. Morgan Hopper pitched the final 2 1/3.

Brooke Patton absorbed the loss for Dumas. A’Diamond Phillips went 3 for 3 for the Lady Cats.
