Pine Bluff business woman Wanda Bateman is hosting an annual effort to collect cereal for Today’s THV Summer Cereal Drive. The goal is 400,00o boxes, according to a press release from the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“Today’s THV Summer Cereal Drive is a yearly fundraiser and awareness event that has been active for the past 15 years,” according to the release. “Teams raise money and donate cereal throughout the state of Arkansas. The cereal is then distributed to those in need. Each year, Arkansas families dependent upon free or reduced meals at school are in need when school lets out for summer. Member organizations of the Arkansas Food Bank Network step in to fill the need.”
People may donate: dry cereal (bags or boxes, 8 ounces or more), cereal/breakfast bars, Cream of Wheat or oatmeal. Monetary donations may be mailed to Wanda Bateman Cereal Drive, P.O. Box 8594, Pine Bluff, AR 71611.
The Commerce is asking its members to help Bateman, a Chamber member, fulfill her goal. Cereal donations may be dropped off at the Chamber, 510 Main St., by Thursday, June 22.
