As food assistance organizations prepare for increased demand during the ongoing federal government shutdown, Stone Bank has donated $2,000 to the White Hall Food Pantry to help support local families facing food insecurity, according to a news release.
Across the state, pantries have reported rising demand as federal programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) face uncertainty due to the shutdown. Many organizations have begun distributing supplies originally intended for the holiday season.
“With so many families facing uncertainty about their next meal, we knew we had to take action,” said Nick Roach, president and CEO of Stone Bank. “Our customers and neighbors are the heart of our communities, and we want them to know that Stone Bank stands beside them, especially during challenging times like these. Supporting local food banks is one way we can help ensure that no Arkansan goes hungry while waiting for relief.”
The contribution is part of $10,000 in total donations Stone Bank has made to food banks serving the communities where it operates, including Little Rock, Harrison, White Hall, DeWitt, Gillett and Mountain View.
“The White Hall Food Pantry provides critical support for families in our community, and we’re proud to help them continue that work,” said Nikki Goodloe, Stone Bank White Hall branch manager. “This donation reflects Stone Bank’s commitment to helping ensure that essential resources remain available to those who need them most.”
The White Hall Food Pantry, 8203 Dollarway Road in White Hall, operates a drive-thru food distribution on the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.
