ARTx3 Campus announces November events

The ARTx3 Campus presents its November events including Miracle on Main auditions, Live@5 with Darnell Cann-Ward, Golden Hour Movie Day, open mic poetry, and Pine Bluff High School students’ exhibition.

Ages 3-6 and their parents are invited to Ms. Madkin’s Literacy Class: Come Read, Sing, Dance, and Play with Me! from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 S. Main St.

“Melanie Madkin, of Ms. Madkin’s Literacy Program, aims to foster a love of the wonderful world of literacy in a quiet and nurturing environment with this monthly event,” according to a news release.

The ARTx3 Campus is hosting auditions for its holiday show from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 6 and Nov. 8 at the Arts & Science Center.

“This festive community talent show is open to ages 6 and older and to a variety of talents,” according to the release.

Performers may audition for these categories: Specialty acts (for example, dancing, magic tricks, comedy or another talent), readers theater (bring holiday stories to life with expressive reading and character voices), and community choir (perform holiday songs with others).

Performances are at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and Dec. 13. Kayla Earnest and Bethany Gere direct. The show is sponsored by Relyance Bank.

Live@5: Darnell Cann-Ward — Nov. 7

Darnell Cann-Ward will perform during the monthly Live@5 concert series from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 7, in the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at the Arts & Science Center.

“Enjoy soulful jazz and R&B tunes with the smooth saxophonist,” according to the release.

Entry is $10 for ARTx3 members and $15 for nonmembers. Complimentary beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages are included. The event is for ages 21 and older. Live@5 is presented by MK Distributors. Additional support is provided by Simmons Bank.

FunDay: Cookin’ for a Cause — Nov. 8

The ARTx3 Campus will host Cookin’ for a Cause for its next Second Saturday Family FunDay from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 8, at the Arts & Science Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Participants of all ages are invited to help cook for fellow community members during the season of giving. The campus is collaborating with House of Bread Deliverance Church to aid families in need.

Golden Hour: Movie Day — Nov. 14

The ARTx3 Campus will host an afternoon of movie-watching for individuals aged 50 and older, featuring the classic “The Princess Bride” in the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at the Arts & Science Center. The event is part of ARTx3’s Golden Hour programming for seniors and is free.

“Filled with adventure, romance, humor, and a touch of magic, this film is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy time together as a community,” according to the release.

“It Was All A Dream,” Art by PBHS Students — Nov. 20

The ARTx3 Campus will host an opening reception for an exhibition of work by Pine Bluff High School students from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 20, at the Arts & Science Center. The event is free and open to the public.

“It Was All A Dream” invites viewers to step into a world where imagination and reality intertwine.

“Presented by the talented art students of Pine Bluff High School, this exhibit celebrates the surrealist tradition of exploring dreams, the subconscious, and unexpected combinations. Each piece transforms ordinary subjects into extraordinary visions — blurring the line between what is real and what is imagined. Through their creative interpretations, these young artists invite you to question, wonder, and dream alongside them,” according to the news release.

The exhibition will be on view in the Loft Gallery through Feb. 26. Gallery hours are by appointment. The exhibition is sponsored by Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel Co.

Open Mic Poetry — Nov. 21

The ARTx3 Campus will present ART WORKS Presents: Open Mic Poetry, from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater at ART WORKS on Main, 627 S. Main St. Tru Poet hosts.

“Ages 16 and older are invited to share their spoken-word selections and original creations in an encouraging and inspiring environment that celebrates the art of poetry and storytelling,” according to the release.

No registration is required. Participants can enter for a chance to win door prizes. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.

ARTx3 Campus

The ARTx3 Campus features three facilities: the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC), 701 S. Main St.; The ARTSpace on Main, 623 S. Main St.; and ART WORKS on Main, 627 S. Main St. The facilities present visual and performing arts programming and STEAM education through exhibitions, performances, classes and local partnerships. Gallery admission is free.
