Art league to host workshop Oct. 2

Caren Garner will conduct a workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center, 211 W. Third Ave., according to Pat Sheffield, workshop chair of the Pine Bluff Art League. The fee is $50.

Garner has been painting for more than 30 years. She has studied in Arkansas and in Washington, D.C. Her art is on display in private and corporate collections around the country, including work done for Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a patriotic mural on the Palliative Care Unit at the John L. McClellan Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Little Rock.

Garner has also done murals for several Little Rock restaurants. She teaches art and is a member of Conway League of Artists and Mid-Southern Watercolorists.

Her work has won numerous awards and she is currently represented by American Art Gallery in Hot Springs. A lover of experimentation, Garner does experimental and non-objective work in water media, acrylics, mixed media and collage with the addition of lots of textural elements. A favorite subject is wildlife, especially African wildlife.

She is also adept in a variety of work including florals, landscapes, portraits and abstract/non-objective work. Her goal is to share her passion, energy and love of art in her work.
