A reported altercation between two men Thursday night resulted in one of them being stabbed and the other arrested.
Jimmy Walls, 50, reportedly stabbed Harold Boyd Jr. after chasing him down the street with a machete, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Friday for Walls.
Detective Michael Roberts reported that police were sent to the area of 12th Avenue and Beech Street at about 8:45 p.m. where they found Boyd bleeding from the neck and upper torso.
Kizer said Walls claimed that Boyd had punched him in the face during an altercation that involved a cigarette and he threw a small knife at Boyd in self defense, but denied having a machete.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Walls, who Kizer described as “having a history of violence” after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second-degree battery.
Kearney also ordered Walls to have no contact with Boyd and to come back to court Sept. 7.
Walls told the judge he received disability and because of that income, the judge did not appoint the Public Defender’s Office for Walls.
