Arrest made in Saturday shooting

Pine Bluff police on Monday arrested a man accused of shooting another man after an altercation that reportedly started at PJ’s Nightclub.

Cedric Eason, 27, turned himself in to detectives at 9 a.m. and was taken to the adult detention center where he was held on probable cause of first-degree battery, pending an expected court appearance in Pine Bluff District Court Tuesday.

Police said Eason allegedly fired shots at a car containing the victim, Timothy Gray, 30, and his brother, Anthony Gray, as the car was leaving the parking lot.

Anthony Gray said a male fired multiple shots at his car, then left heading north on University Drive while he turned south on University Drive.

After realizing his brother had been shot, Anthony Gray said he reached for his brother and lost control of the vehicle, striking a light pole on University Drive.

A witness, Roderick Binns, told police he was behind the vehicle driven by Anthony Gray when the shooting occurred, and heard four or five shots, then saw the other vehicle speed away on University Drive toward Altheimer.

Binns said he saw Gray’s car swerve and strike the light pole, then got out to try and assist Gray.

Timothy Gray was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was treated for what police called “non-life threatening” injuries.
