Arkansas Veterans Business Forum set for Nov. 8 at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Procurement Assistance Center (APAC) will host an Arkansas Veterans Business Forum as part of National Veterans Small Business Week.

Melanie Berman, APAC program manager, said the forum will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Cooperative Extension Service State Office at Little Rock.

The session is free to attend, however participants are urged to register.

Entrepreneurial veterans can meet representatives of the Small Business Administration, Arkansas Small Business Technology Development Center, Little Rock Air Force Base, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs.

“APAC is the recognized source of knowledge and assistance for Arkansas companies seeking to compete and perform successfully as vendors to public agencies and for agencies to achieve their diversity goals,” according to a news release.

The center is an economic development program of Community and Economic Development, a unit of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service, according to the release.

Attendees will also hear from a representative of CSP Management (http://www.cspmgt.com), an APAC client, about the company’s start-up experiences and the benefits of successfully acquiring government contracts, Berman said.

Retired Col. Anita Deason, staff advisor for military and veterans’ issues from Sen. John Boozman’s office, will discuss the unique benefits the veteran community brings to small business ownership.

Berman said the forum is free to attend and online registration is encouraged at http://www.ptassist.com/services/ptac_web_register.php?id=23B5352963 . Details: apac@uaex.edu, 501-671-2390 or uaex.edu/apac.
