Area students win at Arkansas SkillsUSA contest

Several area students were among first-place winners in the Arkansas SkillsUSA Competition from April 14-15 in Hot Springs. Winners are qualified to attend the National SkillsUSA Competition in late June in Louisville, Kentucky.

Categories, schools and students include:

• Secondary Automotive Service Technology, Watson Chapel High School, John Wauters;

• Cabinetmaking, White Hall High School, Tanner Cook;

• Carpentry, Monticello Occupational Education Center, Jose Ambrocio;

• Precision Machining, Monticello Occupational Education Center, Trey Busch.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that prepares high school and postsecondary students for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations.
