Anti-smoking research grants available

The Minority Research Center will award grants to two recipients to cover the cost of research regarding the elimination of smoking and tobacco use among minority populations.

Applications are now being accepted and the deadline is Monday, Nov. 30. The center will review applications and select the two recipients who will each receive up to $9,500.

Grants are available to investigators from Arkansas not-for-profit organizations, including colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories, research institutions, community-based organizations, voluntary health agencies, health maintenance organizations and other tobacco control groups.

The grants are supported by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Minority Research Center on Tobacco and Addictions, which is supported by the Arkansas Department of Health, Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program with Master Settlement Agreement dollars.
