The Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., along with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Chapter NAACP and the UAPB Political Science Club, will host a presidential political forum at 7 p.m. Friday in the Hathaway/Howard Fine Arts Auditorium on the campus of UAPB.
This forum will include representatives from both the Democratic Party and Republican Party. A representative will be on-hand to speak on behalf of President Barack Obama and a representative from the Republican Party will speak on behalf of Mitt Romney.
Melvin Clayton, a member of UAPB/NAACP, said the students that he spoke to were very concerned about what both President Obama and Romney will do to increase student loans.
Crystal Jones, chairman of the political forum, said students are very concerned about how both candidates will improve education. Ashley Forest, a member of the committee, talked to a student who is concerned about how interest rates on student loans will affect graduates in the work force.
Each representative will discuss the candidate’s platform and what they will do for the school, community, state and nation, if elected to office.
At the end of the forum, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
