Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter and the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture join hands to promote financial fitness among Jefferson County residents.
Economic security is one of six major program initiatives of the international sorority. The Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service is offering the workshop, Navigating the Financial Journey, throughout the county. Registration is $15 per person. However, in support of the sorority’s international initiative, the Delta Omega Omega Chapter of AKA will pay the fee for the first 50 registrants for the workshop, which is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the S.A. Haley Auditorium of the S.J. Parker Cooperative Extension Building, located at the corner of Oliver Road and L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
This workshop is for those who need assistance in managing their financial affairs, want to learn techniques for protection from consumer fraud or misrepresentation, or are interested in securing their financial future.
The workshop will be taught by Mary Ann Kizer, family and consumer sciences agent for Jefferson County and Michelle Carter, family and consumer sciences agent for Bradley County.
Earsline Turner is chair of the Delta Omega Omega Initiative IV Program Committee and members of the committee are Eula Liddell, Carolyn Blakely, Shirley Denny and Jacquelyn McCray. Terry Jackson is vice president and program chair for the chapter and Cynthia Bennett is president.
