Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority hosts walk for heart health awareness

The Health Committee of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Omega Omega Chapter recently held an exercise walk for heart awareness at The Pines mall.

The Pine Bluff Community, and sorors and their families and friends were invited to join the sorority in walking the mall to improve heart health. Pamphlets on high blood pressure, heart health, heart attacks and warning signs, strokes and warning signs, 10 Foods in Red, and walking were given to participants. The walk was held from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. The group gathered at the Café Court. All participants, young and old, walked to support healthy living.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 15, 1908. Cynthia Bennett is the chapter president. Tina Brown is the chair and Beverly Cotledge is the co-chair of the Health Committee.
