Restroom facilities for the after hours self-serve fueling station at Grider Field Municipal Airport were completed Wednesday.
Airport Manager Doug Hale shared the news with the Pine Bluff Aviation Commission at its meeting Thursday.
“It may not sound like much, but I guarantee that for the folks that fly in late at night to refuel and stretch their legs, the fact that we now have a restroom for their use will make us stand out in a good way,” Hale said. “It is a nice facility that will also be used by airport tenants whose hangars are at that end of the airport property.”
Also, Hale said that he has secured two surplus 30 kilowatt electrical generators from the U. S. General Services Administration.
“This is the first step towards allowing us to be able to respond to an emergency on the airport property when the power is out,” Hale said.

Hale said that phase two of the airport apron project has begun and that contractor Redstone Construction Group of Little Rock is in the process of removing expansion joint material on the concrete section of the apron.
“They are also going to put in new airplane tie-downs because the existing ones are in very bad shape,” Hale said.
McClelland Consulting Engineers Inc. Project Engineer Alex Smith said that even though the tie-down work was not factored into the original bid, savings realized on other parts of the project should make any cost overrun minimal.
