Lanes of several highways will be closed during the Memorial Day weekend and drivers are urged to be cautious and plan ahead.
Local lane closures include:
• Interstate 530 at Redfield, mile markers 16-22, 6 miles northbound inside lanes and mile markers 16-17, 1 mile southbound inside lane, closed 24 hours.
• I-530 at Hensley, 9-16 mile markers, 7 miles both directions closed for 24 hours.
Extensive highway work continues in the state and with those improvements come work zones, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department said.
To aid in holiday travel, AHTD has been trying to open as many lanes as possible, however travelers will still likely face work zones and delays due to increased traffic volume.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead by visiting IDriveArkansas.com before traveling. The website includes live traffic flow, weather information and details on construction zones. Travelers can also follow the highway department on Twitter @AHTD.
