Additional cameras have been set up to monitor traffic on U.S. 67 throughout the Jacksonville area in anticipation of high volumes due to the Little Rock Air Force Base Air Show this weekend, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT.)
Eight portable cameras are located along the route in addition to five cameras already in place. These cameras will provide event organizers and law enforcement with constant awareness of traffic through the area, according to a news release.
The cameras are also publicly available on the ARDOT Traveler Information site www.IDriveArkansas.com. Cameras specifically being used to monitor air show traffic are depicted on the site with blue-colored icons. Motorists attending the air show are reminded to “Know Before You Go” and check travel conditions before heading out. Delays are expected, according to the release.
Additionally, ARDOT is widening U.S. 67 between Vandenberg Blvd. and State Highway 5 in Cabot. Although two lanes remain available in both directions, the work zone is being carefully watched in order to facilitate fast mitigation of vehicle accidents and breakdowns.
