AARP Driver Safety course to be offered at JRMC

The AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 1600 W. 40th Ave.

The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. The fee is due at the time of the class. Participants should bring a valid driver’s license and AARP card if they are members.

The four-hour multimedia course will be taught by Bob Daughterty, a certified instructor. The course is for individuals 50 and older and covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time that comes with age and provides practical techniques for dealing with these changes. A driver who completes the course will receive a certificate. By state law, this certificate will enable drivers to receive a discount, good for three years, on their automobile insurance if they are 55 or older.

Anyone interested in the course should call 870-247-4898 to pre-register. The class will be limited to 35 people.
