AARP Driver Safety Class to be held at JRMC

The AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered from 12:30 to 5 p.m. May 15 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 1600 W. 40th Ave.

The course is for individuals 50 and older and covers the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time that comes with age and provides practical techniques for dealing with these changes. A driver who completes the course will receive a certificate. By state law this certificate will enable drivers to receive a discount on their automobile insurance if they are 55 and older. This discount is good for three years under Arkansas State law.

The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members, payable to AARP at the time of the class. Participants should bring a valid driver’s license and their AARP membership card if they are members.

This is a four-hour multimedia course and participants are not required to pass a test. The class will be taught by Bob Daugherty, a certified instructor.

Interested individuals should call 870-247-4898 to pre-register. The class will be limited to 35 participants.
