8 UAM football players make All-Great American Conference teams

Eight University of Arkansas at Monticello football players made the All-Great American Conference football teams, the conference announced Wednesday.

Junior linebacker Ghee Evans was placed on the first team. Evans, who was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week after a home win over Southern Nazarene, had 80 tackles, including 7.5 sacks. Four of those sacks came in the Southern Nazarene game.

Junior quarterback Tavion Faulk highlights the Boll Weevils’ contingent on the third team.

Faulk was conference Offensive Player of the Week after his 390-yard, 3-touchdown passing performance in a win at Arkansas Tech.

Other third-teamers from UAM include sophomore wide receiver T.J. Fields, junior wideout and return specialist Chasden Collins, offensive lineman Carson Berg, defensive tackle K.J. Wells, freshman linebacker Dajon Doss and junior tight end Stran Smith. Five Weevils received Great American Elite Scholar Student-Athlete awards: senior defensive lineman Tevontae Bond, junior defensive back Cayden Dominey, senior offensive lineman Derius Franklin, senior defensive lineman Ndubisi Nwankwo, and junior tight end Joshua Richardson.

The following Weevils were selected to the GAC Academic Honor Roll:

Sophomore defensive lineman Chad Brinkman, junior offensive lineman Jack Chiasson, freshman wide receiver Kayden Glenn, senior defensive lineman Kobe Kendrick, freshman offensive lineman Brayden Kitchens, freshman kicker Wade Lavergne, freshman defensive lineman Jackson Moore, freshman linebacker Luis Pena, senior defensive lineman Ivy Pittman, junior offensive lineman Alex Pizzimenti, freshman running back Willis Robinson, junior offensive lineman Karter Sanders, junior tight end Stran Smith, senior punter and kicker Tanner Steenbock, sophomore linebacker Tre Stokes, junior running back Jaylen Sulton, junior quarterback Tyler Webb and sophomore defensive lineman Palmer Harris.

VOLLEYBALL ALL-GREAT AMERICAN CONFERENCE

UAM setter Mia Smalls was named All-Great American honorable mention.

The senior finished her career with 2,093 assists, including 415 this season, and had a career-high 430 total attacks for the season with 104 kills and 41 errors (.147 hitting percentage). She also finished her career with 783 digs.

Sophomore defensive specialist Maelie Cooke received a GAC Elite Scholar Student-Athlete Award. Making the GAC Academic Honor Roll from UAM were senior pin hitter Isneydy De La Rosa, junior outside hitter Evalyn Dang, senior libero and defensive specialist Licia Echevarria, junior outside hitter Sophia Grubbs, sophomore middle blocker and opposite Jocelyn Rios, junior libero Jordan Wehr and freshman outside hitter Taylor Wilson.
