5 Free back-to-school events set in Southeast Arkansas

The Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corp. (SEACAC) will launch free back-to-school festivals in five counties. The events will include live entertainment, food and activities.

Festivals will be held:

Monday, Aug. 27, 4–8 p.m. at the Hamburg Town Square at Hamburg;

Tuesday, Aug. 28, 4–8 p.m. at the Lake Chicot Amphitheatre at Lake Village;

Wednesday, Aug. 29, 4–8 p.m. at the Depot City Park at McGehee;

Thursday, Aug. 30, 4–8 p.m. at the Town Square at Monticello;

Friday, Aug. 31, 4–8 p.m. at the Warren City Park at Warren.

Also, a 2002 Ford Explorer will be given away. Tickets for giveaways are made available through businesses and churches who partnered with SEACAC for the event, according to a news release.

The back-to-school festivals are part of the agency’s tradition of serving people in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew counties for more than 50 years. SEACAC, a nonprofit organization, was established in 1966 to serve those counties by planning, coordinating and implementing programs and services to alleviate and eliminate poverty and its causes, according to the release.
