Reports were recently made on two meetings of the 20th Century Club.
The 20th Century Club met March 16 at the First Baptist Church. Linda Minyard opened the meeting with the club collect. She called attention to the members who were absent due to illness and or being in the hospital. Prayers were asked for a speedy recovery.
After the preliminary business, the group discussed changes that might make the club more productive and interesting. Several subjects were presented and the one chosen was “Events of the 20th century that made a significant impact in World history.”
Norma Caldwell and Ruby Poteet are working on the 2017-18 year book and members were urged to have their information ready by the April meeting.
The program book review was given by Janette McGrew. “Martha Jefferson” by William G. Hyland Jr. Mrs. Thomas Jefferson, beloved wife and steadfast partner in the revolutionary years of American founding visionary, was at last brought fully and convincingly to life in this review, according to a press release.

The hostesses for the meeting were DeDe Foster and Frances Taylor. Refreshments and decorations were in the St. Patrick’s Day theme.
Also, the 20th Century Club met recently at the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Historical Museum. Co-hostesses were Linda Eifling and Linda Minyard. President Minyard called the meeting to order and the group repeated the club collect together.
The members went into a general discussion about the club’s organization and how it could be improved before the new year book was printed. The nominating committee will be working on new officers to be named at the next meeting and installed at the May meeting.
Minyard was the only birthday of the month and the members sang a rousing and joyous happy birthday song to her.
The monthly book report was given by Peggy Howard. “The School House” by Jill Watson Glassco. The book offers an uplifting story of faith and perseverance that will encourage readers in their daily lives, according to a press release.
