The 20th Century Club met Nov. 17 in the home of hostess JoAnn Gregory. Ruby Poteet was co-hostess and the meeting was led by President Linda Minyard.
The minutes and roll call was by DeDe Foster, secretary, and the treasurer’s report was given by Peggy Koen. Rene’ Mitchell gave details of the annual Christmas luncheon which was to be held at the Margland Bed and Breakfast.
Minyard mentioned the Salvation Army contribution that the club would make and told the members about the need for people to adopt angels and return them to the Salvation Army. Also, the birthday of the month honoree was JoAnn Gregory.
Peggy Howard gave the monthly book review of “Lunch at The Piccadilly” by Clyde Edgerton. Rosehaven Convalesance Center is in Listre, North Carolina. The book is based on a client of the center and her nephew. It is a breezy comedy, tinged with sadness. Very entertaining and had the members laughing throughout the presentation.
Other members attending were: Norma Caldwell, Jeanne Cheak, JoAnn Kelley, Janette McGrew, Frances Taylor and LaQuita Wisner. The hostesses served an array of goodies which the members enjoyed while laughing over the very funny book review.
