Get out and vote

Editor, The Commercial:

Pine Bluff Citizens of the 4th Ward, voting time is here again! We are asking everyone to voice their opinion and exercise your right to elect your representatives who you feel will work with you to address the community issues that are important to you.

There is one candidate for alderman (council member) in this election that we need you to seriously consider for re-election: Alderman Steven Mays.

Just in case you are not aware of Alderman Mays’ many contributions to the 4th Ward community, here are a few of his accomplishments:

Alderman Mays collaborated with the Pine Bluff City Council to secure the votes for a public safety project with the Arkansas Department of Transportation to improve the conditions of Arkansas 190/West Sixth Avenue, Ohio Street to Harding Avenue, and West 13th Avenue/Franklin Street to Blake Street. Currently, this project is ongoing and the Arkansas Department of Transportation has committed to spending over $8 million dollars in state and federal funding for Pine Bluff.

Alderman Mays has supported grant funding for $384,000 from the Arkansas Department of Transportation for the Coleman School Safe route which provides sidewalks for adults and children in the 4th Ward.

Since his election in 2010, Alderman Mays has been a reliable and trusted advocate for our 4th Ward residents.

He has always been willing to listen and collaborate with any resident who has community concerns.

Our community needs to work together as a village to empower each other to overcome any adversity that comes our way.

Therefore, if you want someone who understands the importance of public service, please vote for Alderman Steven Mays.

Earl and Ora Mays,

4th Ward Residents, Pine Bluff
