Entergy restores power

An equipment failure caused a power outage Sunday in Pine Bluff, causing 717 customers to lose power at the peak of the outage. Entergy Arkansas worked to restore power, and by Monday afternoon, only three customers remained without electricity, according to a spokesman.

Red Cross plans open house

The American Red Cross Volunteer Open House will be held from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The community is invited to attend.

“Join us and make a difference,” according to a news release.

Attendees will have the chance to see a day in the life of a Red Crosser and learn about opportunities such as the Disaster Action Team, disaster duty officer, preparedness, and sheltering. Drawings for prizes and refreshments will be available as well, according to a news release.

WH doctor’s office relocating

Dr. Mark A. Ramiro’s family practice office is moving from White Hall to 4303 S. Mulberry St. in Pine Bluff. The first day in the new clinic will be March 2. The office will no longer be at the White Hall location, according to a news release. Details: (870) 247-9499.

Forum to feature judge candidates

Voters for Change will present a candidates’ forum from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Business Support Incubator, 615 S. Main St.

The forum will feature six candidates for Jefferson County judge and will be shown live on The Heat Magazine, according to a flyer.

County judge candidates in the Democratic primary March 3 are Jeff Edwards, Michael J. Turley, County Judge Gerald L. Robinson, Efrem B. Neely Sr. and Eric Walden Jr. Nathaniel Todd is unopposed in the Republican primary.

1st Ward pantry sets giveaway

The First Ward Living Grace Pantry, 1201 Commerce Road, will hold a Spring Break Giveaway and special presentation to a local business from noon to 2 p.m. March 21. The event is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to arrive early.

Families will receive free groceries and resources to help support them during the school break. The event reflects the pantry’s ongoing mission to combat food insecurity and strengthen families throughout Jefferson County, according to a news release.

During the giveaway, a proclamation will be presented by state Rep. District 65, the Rev. Glenn Barnes, to Highland Pellets for their continued commitment and contributions to the Pine Bluff community, according to the release.

The event is made possible through the support of local sponsors and partners including Highland, Brookshire Grocery Company, Medicare Advisors of Arkansas, UnitedHealthcare, Super 1 Foods, the Jefferson County sheriff’s office, Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services, and the Arkansas Foodbank.

Cleanup registration open

Registration is open for the Greatest American Cleanup in Arkansas, a statewide effort inviting communities, organizations and individuals to help clean and beautify The Natural State from March through May.

Led by Keep Arkansas Beautiful, the state Greatest American Cleanup is part of a national initiative focused on litter prevention, waste reduction and community pride. This year’s cleanup season also aligns with the celebration of America’s 250th birthday, offering Arkansans a meaningful way to honor the nation’s history by caring for the places that shape its future, according to a news release.

Cleanup events may be held anytime between March and May. Registration is free and open to schools, civic groups, businesses, nonprofits and individuals. Participants can register cleanup events, track volunteer impact and access resources to support local efforts. Supplies and support materials may be available while quantities last.
