Branson trip set to see ‘David’

Women of Faith will charter a bus to Branson, Mo., July 11 to see the live performance of “David” on the Sight & Sound Theatre stage. Men, women, couples and children (accompanied by an adult) are encouraged to attend. This is a turnaround trip with transportation and reserved seating included in the cost of the ticket, according to a news release. Breakfast ticket deadline set

The deadline to purchase tickets or a table sponsorship for the 2025 Business Expo Small Business Breakfast is Friday.

The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce will host Business Expo 2025 on May 1 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The Chamber will host Bobby Gosser, president and chief executive officer of Baldwin & Shell Construction Co., as the keynote speaker for the Business Expo breakfast.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. May 1 and the program begins at 8 a.m. Tickets are $25 for members, $30 non-members. A seated table for eight is $300 for members, $350 non-members.

Trail of Tears meeting set

Wabbaseka native Jason Irby invites everyone to attend the Arkansas Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Irby is president of the ARTOTA.

“Come and learn more about Arkansas history and the Trail of Tears, 1830s Indian Act, and the forced removal of thousands of Native Americans,” according to Stuff in The Bluff.com.

The speaker will be John McLarty, treasurer of the Arkansas Chapter and a past president of the Arkansas chapter. McLarty will discuss what the Arkansas chapter is doing to preserve the Trail of Tears history and trail segments throughout Arkansas and educate the public concerning the Congressional Law. UAM sets Aggie Comeback

Food, fellowship and cattle – these are being offered at the Fourth Annual Aggie Comeback hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello Farms on Saturday.

This event, hosted on UAM’s campus, invites all UAM ag alumni, cattle producers, students and friends of agriculture for a hands-on and educational gathering.

The day kicks off with a breakfast at 8 a.m., courtesy of AgUp Equipment, followed by a series of sessions from industry and business professionals.

Speakers include Bill Stephens, vice president of lending and regional manager for AgHeritage Farm Credit Services, who will discuss business plan develop for beef production. He will be followed by Maggie Justice, beef cattle specialist for the Cooperative Extension Service, who will discuss maximizing herd success, according to a news release.

Attendees will then get a hands-on opportunity with a tour of the UAM farms led by the farm manager, Greg Montgomery. This will be followed by a lunch provided by AgHeritage Farm Credit Services.

The event will conclude with a cattle sale offering animals from UAM Farms. The auction will include four registered Beefmaster bulls, 15 commercial bred heifers and one cow-calf pair.

“I have been attending the Aggie Comeback since it started and have always been impressed with the cattle up for auction,” said Jason Meier, UAM alumnus. “I bought three replacement heifers at the 2022 auction and have been very pleased with them on our farm. If you are looking for quality cattle out of South Arkansas, you will not want to miss this sale.”

Throughout the day, vendors will be on campus to showcase the latest equipment. Jeff Monk and Rusty Smith with 4M Equipment will be on site with Arrowquip cattle handling equipment on display for producers and to assist with loading cattle. John David Herren with AgUp will also be on site displaying the latest John Deere hay baling equipment.
