Mayor proclaims Justice Sunday

Pine Bluff Mayor Vivian L. Flowers has proclaimed Jan. 19 as Justice Sunday in Pine Bluff, “encouraging all residents and citizens to observe this day through meaningful activities that promote justice, foster community conservation, and enhance our commitment to creating a just and equitable society,” according to a news release.

The 400 Years of African American History Commission, in partnership with the National Alliance of Faith and Justice, are hosting the fifth edition of the Justice Sunday Service Around the Clock.

The program emphasizes unity and aims to preserve and share Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring impact on the nation’s faith community and civil rights progress.

Happy Caldwell, the founder and president of Victory Television Network; Jesse C. Turner, pastor of Elm Grove Baptist Church; and William L. Fells III, Pine Bluff city council member, will represent Arkansas during the 12-hour virtual national broadcast on Sunday.

The event will begin at noon, an evening before the MLK National Day of Service holiday, and livestreamed on SMOGO Television and the commission’s website at www.400yaahc.gov.

Actor, singer, composer, producer and minister Clifton Davis will host the livestream broadcast. Details: https://vimeo.com/1044124781?share=copy.
