Area Agency tells menu

Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas offers lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at the senior centers. Next week’s menu includes:

Jan. 13 — Chicken strips, cauliflower and cheese sauce, peas and carrots, cookie, and milk.

Jan. 14 — Meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, wheat bread, fresh fruit, and milk.

Jan. 15 — Smothered pork chops, blackeyed peas, greens, cornbread, cake, and milk.

Jan. 16 — Chicken parmigiana with sauce, spinach salad, corn, garlic bread, spiced peaches, and milk.

Jan. 17 — Lean hamburger patty with bun, Mexicali corn, lettuce, tomato, onion, baked beans, fruit, and milk.

Cervical cancer screening day set

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and Healthwise Wellness will host a cervical cancer screening day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 18 at its medical clinic at 4014 Old Warren Road in Pine Bluff.

A same-day pap smear and breast exam will be offered free. No insurance is needed.

“Women of lower socioeconomic status have a higher incidence and are more likely to die from cervical cancer,” Healthwise Wellness Dr. Tochi Amagwula-Keeton said. “Through grant funding by the Arkansas Department of Health’s BreastCare program, we’re able to offer free pap smears to Arkansas residents who qualify.”

Local on Evansville Dean’s List

The University of Evansville at Evansville, Ind., named Dean Harper of Monticello to Dean’s List for the Fall 2024 semester. Honorees must have carried a full academic load of 12 hours or more and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or above to be named to the list, according to a news release.

ATU announces President’s, Dean’s list

Arkansas Tech University announced its President’s List and Dean’s lists for undergraduate students on its Russellville campus for the fall 2024 semester.

A student must record a 3.5 grade-point average or higher and complete at least 12 hours of college-level coursework to be named to the Dean’s List. Students who achieve a 4.0 grade-point average and complete at least 12 hours of college-level coursework also earn the President’s List distinction.

President’s List and Dean’s List honorees are listed alphabetically by the town. Those on the President’s List are noted with a 4.0 grade point average.
