Southeast Arkansas College held Arkansas State University Mid-South without a 3-point field goal in taking a 70-49 women’s basketball win over the Greyhounds on Thursday night in West Memphis.

SEARK made 10 3-pointers, as K’Myri Johnson led the way with 3 of them. Patience Johnson scored 16 points, Amethyst Price had 14 and Tomya Grider 12 for SEARK (6-3, 2-1 in Region 2).

Lula-Jae Tranfaglia scored a game-high 18 points and was Mid-South’s only scorer in double figures. The Greyhounds (0-10, 0-2) made 15 shots from 2-point range and went 19 for 35 in free throws, while SEARK scored on 11 2-pointers and converted 18 of 33 free throws.

SEARK led 34-28 at halftime.

Also in West Memphis, the Sharks (9-2, 3-1 in Region 2) saw a 5-game winning streak halted despite Derek Magwood’s 27 points.

Tobias Prall continued his 3-point attack and accounted for 5 of SEARK’s 9 baskets from the arc on his way to 19 points for SEARK. Prall hit 8 from the perimeter and finished with 34 points Monday in a home victory over North Arkansas College.

Jalen Brown added 13 points in the loss.

The Greyhounds (6-8, 2-1), who played mostly NJCAA Division I teams in nonconference, made more 3-pointers (16) than they did 2s (12) Thursday. Much of that was due to Santana Spivey, who connected on 6 treys, and Jaxson Yancy, who made 5. Each scored 19 points, while Jermaine Christopher scored a team-high 20 points.

ASU Mid-South also sank 14 of 17 free throws, while SEARK made just 7 of 13. The Greyhounds led 39-34 at halftime and hung on for their closest victory of the season.

SEARK’s teams will play at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Miss., on Saturday, starting with the women’s game at 2:30 p.m. It will be the last game of the calendar year for both SEARK teams.
