PATRICIA BARNES, A PSALMIST AND PROPHETESS of Sold Out For Jesus Ministry, invites everyone to a community outreach event at 10 a.m. Saturday at Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St. The event will include live music by Gospel artists including Father and Son, consisting of Melvin and John Crockett. Barnes said the purpose of the event is to get the attention of local residents. Quoting a portion of Luke 14:23, she mentioned the importance of going into the highways and hedges to compel people to come. PRAYER WORKS GOSPEL CHURCH, 1301 W. 15th Ave., will celebrate the first anniversary of the church and the pastor and wife, the Rev. Laydell and Della Jordan, on Sunday. At 11 a.m., service will be held at Prayer Works and the speaker will be Freddy Riley of Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. At at 2:30 p.m., service will be held at Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave. The worship leader will be the Rev. Robert Willis, pastor of Amos Chapel. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Frederick Bateman, pastor of Bethel New Bethel, accompanied by the choir. Soloists will include Darnell Jordan Jr., Irish Frazier and Betty Riley of the Beard Singers.
GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 2400 W. 31st Ave., will conduct its Grace Evangelistic Crusade at 6 p.m. June 2-7. The pastor, the Rev. Robert Anderson, invites the community to this outdoor service. If there is rain, the service will be moved inside. Also, at 6 p.m. June 8, the church will host a block party barbecue. “Come and fellowship with us,” a spokesman said.
NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will celebrate Women’s Day on June 9. At 11 a.m., the featured speaker will be Tacarra Goodwin, a member of New Community. At 2:30 p.m., the guest speaker will be Jenise “Sandy” Todd, a local pastor. The guest choir director will be Donna Huskey. The community is invited to attend. The choir rehearsal dates are 7 p.m. June 3, and June 6. The program is hosted by the first lady, Janice Lockett. The pastor/apostle is Patrick Lockett Sr.
THE WOMEN OF FAITH will sponsor a turn-around trip to Eureka Springs to see the Passion Play on July 12. The trip includes transportation, Christ of the Ozarks statue photo stop, lunch, Holy Land Bus Tour, Museum Tour, shopping, dinner buffet, pre-show activities and the outdoor drama.
