Food Safety

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Electronic copies of retail food inspection reports are available on the Arkansas Food Inspection Portal. To access the portal, visit the food protection page on the Arkansas Department of Health website at www.healthy.arkansas.gov.

Recent reports include:

mPOPEYE’S LOUISIANA KITCHEN, 8101 Sheridan Road, White Hall. Date of inspection into complaint Sept. 7. No violations pertaining to complaint observed during the time of the inspection.

mJUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER, 301 E. Second Ave. Date of inspection Aug. 22. Observed single use containers being reused to store pudding in. Single service items must not be reused.

mQUANTITY COOKER FOOD LA, U.A.P.B. 26 Watson Boulevard. Date of inspection Aug. 24. All drinks must have a lid and straw. A closed BEVERAGE container if the container shall be handled to prevent contamination of: (1) The EMPLOYEE’S hands; (2) The container; and (3) Exposed FOOD; clean EQUIPMENT, UTENSILS, and LINENS; and unwrapped SINGLE-SERVICE and SINGLE-USE ARTICLES. Drink was discarded during time of inspection.

mSQRL SUPER STOP, 9225 US-270, White Hall. Date of inspection Aug. 23. No test strips observed in the establishment. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. Observed a stove top with no vent hood in the kitchen. If necessary to keep rooms free of excessive heat, steam, condensation, vapors, obnoxious odors, smoke, and fumes, mechanical ventilation of sufficient capacity shall be provided. Stove top should not be used until it is under mechanical ventilation. Okay to operate-permit given.
