Jefferson County Food & Safety Report

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

FAST MART, 3700 Camden Road. Date of follow-up inspection Feb. 2. All violations corrected during time of inspection.

PINE BLUFF FOOD MART LLC, 3402 Old Warren Road. Date of follow-up inspection Jan. 29. All violations corrected during time of inspection.

DOTTIES ON THE MEZZANINE, P. O. BOX 7009. Date of inspection Jan. 27. Outside of cooking equipment is visibly unclean. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

RALLY’S HAMBURGERS, 403 N. Blake St. Date of inspection Jan. 27. No bare hand contact with exposed, ready-to-eat food or ice. Use gloves, spatulas, tongs, deli tissue or other dispensing equipment. Employee put on gloves during time of inspection. Observed trash cans without lids. Trash cans containing food residue should be stored covered when not in continuous use.

REGIONAL PARK SOFTBALL, 1100 Regional Park Drive. Date of inspection Jan. 27. Concession not open during time of inspection. Soap not observed at hand washing sink. Provide an adequate supply of hand cleanser (liquid, powder or bar) at each hand washing sink. Paper towels not observed at hand washing sink. Provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heated-air drying device at each hand washing sink in food preparation, toilet and warewashing areas. No test strips observed in establishment. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. Lighting was not working during time of inspection. 0 foot-candles of light observed. Lighting should be available before opening next.

MEME’S LEARNING ACADEMY, 801 S. Walnut St. Date of inspection Jan. 21. Observed box of single service items in storage area stored on the floor. Items must be stored to prevent contamination.

SAM’S SOUTHERN EATERY, 7003 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection Jan. 27. Did not find thermometers in all food coolers. Keep them visible at all times. Main cook with no hair restraint. Food workers shall wear hair restraints, beard restraints, and clothing that covers body hair. Portions of storage/ prep areas not constructed to food service standards. All surfaces need to be smooth, non absorbent, easily cleanable and durable. Equipment visibly soiled. Keep equipment clean to sight and touch. Rest room door standing open. Install self closing devices on doors. Areas of establishment in disrepair. Corrective Action: The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Preparation and storage areas visibly soiled. Keep clean to sight and touch. Corrective Action: Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. Light fixtures missing protective shields. Properly shield glass bulbs or install shatter proof lights.

TOWNSEND PARK BALLFIELD CONCESSION, P.O. BOX 7676. Date of inspection Jan. 27. Observation: Concession should be cleaned before opening. Corrective Action: Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.

DOLLAR GENERAL, 1414 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection Jan.

  1. Seals on meat refrigerator doors are broken and need repaired to properly seal.

DOLLAR GENERAL, 9209 Sulphur Springs Road. Date of inspection Jan. 26. Observed paper plates stored directly on the floor. Paper plates must be stored six inches above floor to be in accordance to regulations.

DOLLAR TREE, 2709 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 26. Observed openings under front doors and back receiving door. All outer openings of a food establishment should be protected against the entry of insects and rodents. Observed some boxes of food in walk in freezer being stored on the floor. Food shall be protected from contamination by storing in a clean dry location where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination and at least 6 inches above the floor. Some shelving throughout facility is unclean and needs to be cleaned. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

FAMILY DOLLAR, 1607 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 26. Facility lacks refrigerator thermometer in dairy reach in cooler. Food temperature measuring device shall be provided and readily accessible for use in ensuring attainment and maintenance of food temperature. Some shelving in establishment is visibly unclean. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Some flooring and walls throughout establishment are unclean and need to cleaned.
