Jefferson County Food Safety Report

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:

410 LOUNGE, 303 W. 31st Ave. Date of inspection Oct. 26. Observed ice scoop handle being stored directly on the ice. During pauses in food preparation or dispensing, food preparation and dispensing utensils shall be stored in accordance with establish regulations. Ice scoop handle was placed handle up during inspection. Observed build up of debris on the floor behind the cooking equipment in kitchen. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.

MCDONALD’S, 2819 Olive St. Date of inspection Oct. 26. Canadian bacon (50 degrees F) in stand up reach in refrigerator and sliced tomatoes (43 degrees F) in small prep cooler are out of safe temperature range. Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperature of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermometer, to limit bacterial growth. Observed damaged ceiling tiles throughout establishment. The physical facilities shall be maintained in good repair. Floors in kitchen under equipment are unclean and need to be cleaned. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.

SONIC DRIVE IN, 2407 Olive St., Date of inspection Oct. 26. Observed food in reach in freezer and refrigerator being stored uncovered. Food should be stored covered to prevent it from being contaminated. Lids were placed on containers of food during inspection. Prep cooler across from small three compartment sink is not sealing properly. Prep cooler should seal properly to maintain proper temperatures. Observed trash cans containing food residue not in continuous use being stored uncovered Trash cans containing food residue should be covered while not in continuous use. Floors throughout facility, especially under cooking equipment, are unclean and need to be cleaned.

CAVE AND CAVE SALES INC. 11001 S. Highway 88, Altheimer Date of inspection Oct. 23. Observed standing water on floor. Corrective Action: The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair.

SONIC DRIVE IN, 3410 Camden Road. Date of inspection Oct. 23 Observed handwashing sink blocked in the kitchen area. A handwashing sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use, and do not use for purposes other than handwashing. Tongs were removed during time of inspection Observed wiping cloths sitting on prep counter. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulations pertaining to Retail Food establishment.
