Local organizations cancel events

The following local organizations are cancelling events because of concerns over the coronavirus:

Go Forward rescheduling Forward Fest

Go Forward Pine Bluff is rescheduling Forward Fest 2020 that had been planned for April 24-25. Ticket refunds are available, according to a news release. The committee hopes to have dates for the festival soon, with an outdoor concert at Saracen Landing in the summer and another part, the Frankie Beverly ft. Maze concert, in October during the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Homecoming, according to the release. Details: Convention Center, 536-7600; or Go Forward, 541-1196.

PBICVR cancels April Coffee

Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration cancelled its Coffee with the Chiefs Community Program. The event was planned for April 7 at the Cherry Street AME Zion Church, according to a news release. Details: PBICVR, 870-730-1131.

Chamber office closes

The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce is temporarily closed to walk-in traffic as a safety precaution for the staff and community members. However, staff are there and working. Details: Lynette Bloomberg, at lynette@jeffersoncountyalliance.com or 870-535-0110.

PB employment office closes to public

The state employment office at Pine Bluff has closed to the general public because of coronavirus concerns. The Arkansas Division of Workforce Services (ADWS), 1001 Tennessee St., will still assist clients by phone, email or online, according to a news release from William Campbell, ADWS local office manager. To file an unemployment claim or repay unemployment benefits, call 870-534-1920.
