The Camden Road Extension Homemakers met recently at the Whiteville Baptist Church. President Jo Segars called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone and inquired about members not present.
She read the thought for the day: “When your cup overflows, share it, don’t waste it – throw a party,” according to a news release.
Nancy Sumner led the members in the Homemakers Creed. Kathy Rogers read the inspiration from Psalm 20:4.
Dorothy Green read the handy hint – “Dip your hands in to cold water before shaping meatballs – mixture won’t stick to your hands.”
The roll was called with the group answering with “What is your idea of special gift giving – without buying a present?” Those present were Patsy Jones, Sue Halford, Dorothy Green, Claudia Clark, Bettye Johnson, Kathy Rogers, Wanda Strickland, Karen Gray, Nancy Sumner, Jo Segars, Mary Smith and Wanda Felts.

The minutes from October and November were presented. Bettye Johnson, RSVP reporter, collected the volunteer hours.
Dorothy Green presented the program, “Party Planning Tips.” Most of it was about planning a wedding.
Bettye Johnson was recognized and thanked for setting up a meeting at the nature center. The members enjoyed touring the grounds and making candles from berries, leaves and twigs in different outdoor scents for the holidays, according to the release.
Special appreciation went to Nancy Sumner for hosting the Christmas Party in her home.
Homemade cookies for the first responders were taken to leader training on Feb. 5 then distributed. Leftover cookies were taken to the Home and Garden Show.
Members were invited to stay after the meeting Tuesday, Feb. 19, to make dolls for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and after the meeting Tuesday, March 19, to do caps.
Everyone will need a loom in March. Those that have one should bring it in February to show others what to buy, according to the release. For the February meeting, members should bring needle and thread.
Members voted to have a potluck with soup and sandwiches (or whatever they want to bring) after the meeting in order to stay to work on dolls.
The birthday lunch for January, February and March will be held in March. Claudia Clark will come up with ideas of where to go and bring them in February.
April Leader Training will be April 1. The AEHC (Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council) workshop at the 4-H center at Ferndale will be held at 10 a.m. March 6. The cost is $25. Bettye Johnson reported on the agenda for the meeting.
Door prizes were given away and Segars read the homemaker’s prayer.
