Board of Election Commissioners to meet

The Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners will hold an election day meeting beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19.

The commission will remain in session until unofficial election results are announced at the election center, 123 Main St., at approximately 9:30 p.m.

“In the event commissioners are required to make a decision requiring a vote while the polls are open, it will be at the election center,” according to a news release. “Commissioners remind voters only those who voted in the May 22 Democrat primary election or nonpartisan judicial election, or did not vote, can vote in the June 19 Democrat primary runoff election. If someone voted in the Republican primary, they are prohibited by law from voting on June 19. It is a violation of law to cross-over vote.”

The election commissioners will also hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the election center. Agenda items include: approve June 7 and June 19 meeting minutes, coordinator’s update on insurance claim status, budget shortfall, public comments on new business agenda items, which will include adjudicate any provisional and absentee ballots, supplemental appropriation for the coordinator’s pay and review primary reimbursement request.
