A look at what’s to come

Here’s a look at some of the stories we will be covering this week:

Monday:

A Memorial Day program will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the White Hall Museum Veteran’s Monument, 9009 Dollarway Road. Col. Kelso Horne, Pine Bluff Arsenal commander, will be the keynote speaker. The National Anthem will be sang and wreaths will be laid. Other program participants include Darryl Shumaker, who will call the names of the KIA/MIA. Glen Minor will place the large memorial wreath in front of the monument during the program.

Tuesday: The Downtown Pine Bluff Rotary Club meets Tuesday at the Pine Bluff Country Club. Programs will include the following: May 30 — Brian Thomas, president and chief exectutive officer of Jefferson Regional Medical Center discussing “What’s new at JRMC?”

Thursday: The West Pine Bluff Rotary Club meets Thursday at the Pine Bluff Country Club: Programs will include: June 1 – Rachel Miller, new executive director of the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas; and June 8 – Bobby Bolding, head football coach at Pine Bluff High School.

We are also planning Pine Bluff City Council and Jefferson County Quorum Court previews. The council meets Monday, June 5, the same day as the quorum court’s committees convene.
