Epsilon Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. will honor retired educators during their Finer Womanhood Observance Banquet.
The event will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at the Pine Bluff Convention banquet hall. The theme is “Recognizing Dedicated Service to Education.” During the celebration, a video of each honoree will be featured and special presentations will be made.
The sorority salutes these retirees for their commitment and dedication to education: retiring from the Pine Bluff School District, Octavia Benjamin, 40 years; Joyce G. Davis, 26 years; Carol Gardner, 38 years; William Hawkins, 50 years; Carl Lott, 32 years; Rana M. McClain, 36 years; Elizabeth W. Taylor, 40 years; and retiring from the Watson Chapel School District, Leydel Willis, 58 years.
“Honoring these classroom professionals has been a major project of the sorority for 29 years, having been initiated by sorority member, Dr. Sharon Fletcher,” a spokeswoman said.
The Finer Womanhood Banquet Committee members are Lula Gray, Mary Liddell, Ollie King, Genevia Thomas and Ruby Young. Kathy Tatum is the Arkansas State director and Marian Lothery is the chapter president.
