The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.
The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:
• W.T. Cheney School, 2100 Ridgway Road. Date of inspection Feb. 6. Observation: Inside lighting fixture needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Need more lighting in establishment (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
• CAM Pizza LLC – (dba Domino’s), 23OO S. Olive St. Date of inspection Feb. 6. Observed food and drink near pizza boxing area. Eating and drinking should be done in designated areas where contamination of exposed food and clean equipment can be prevented. Food and drink were moved. (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Chemical bottle observed sitting next to single service pizza boxes and above prepackaged foods; chemical bottle should be stored separate from food and single service items; chemical bottle was moved and placed with other chemicals during inspection. • Quest Middle School, 308 S. Blake St. Date of inspection Feb. 7. Bottom of milk cooler is unclean and needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
• Shell Quick Mart, U.S. 79 Good Faith Road. Date of inspection Jan. 13. No violations reported.
• Haley Street Head Start Center,#2 Haley St. Date of inspection Feb. 10. No violations reported.
• Ridgway Grocery, 2010 Ridgway Road. Date of inspection Feb. 9. Some cold holding temperatures in prep cooler are not within safe temperature range — must be 41 degrees F or below (Not in compliance.) Date marking not observed being kept on deli meats opened and held for more than 24 hours. Deli meats were date marked during inspection (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) Three compartment sink is unclean and needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Restroom door is not self closing.
