The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.
The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:
• Broadmoor Elementary School, 1106 Wisconsin St. Date of inspection Jan. 18. No violations reported.
• Kentucky Fried Chicken, 2707 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 18. Can opener blade needs to be cleaned and sanitized (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Chemicals should be stored away from equipment and single service cups (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Trash cans containing food residue should be covered when not in continuous use (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Floors, especially behind fryers and oven, need to be cleaned; ceiling vents above dry storage area need to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) All lights in kitchen area should be shielded or have shatterproof bulbs (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
• Papa John’s Pizza, 3800 Camden Road, #310. Date of inspection Jan. 18. Observation: Need chlorine test strips to ensure proper sanitizing solution concentration (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
