Jefferson County Food Safety reports for the week of 1-7-17


The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:

• Divine Kitchen, 2901 Pines Mall Drive, Suite 701. Date of inspection into kitchen fire Jan. 3. Voluntary Destruction Reports filled out for food damaged in refrigerator due to refrigerator being unplugged after fire.

• RIM Food Mart, 601 N. Hutchinson St. Date of inspection Jan. 4. Discontinue consuming food, use of unapproved beverage containers, or use of tobacco in food preparation or ware-washing area (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) A hand-washing sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use, and do not use for purposes other than handwashing (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Food packaged in Retail Food Establishment, shall be labeled as specified in law (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)

• Chickey City, 7197 Sheridan Road, Suite 112, White Hall. Date of inspection Jan. 3. Food packaged in establishment should be properly labeled (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Trash cans containing food residue should be covered when not in continuous use (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection; repeat violation.)

• Shell Quick Mart, 2310 Olive St. Date of inspection Jan. 4. Need test strips to test sanitizer strength (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Restroom door should be self closing (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)

• Meme’s Learning Academy, 801 S. Walnut St. Date of inspection Jan. 4. Light bulbs must have protective shielding (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observation: A current permit health must be posted in view of the public (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
