A reported burglary in progress at a house in central Pine Bluff Friday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a man found inside.
Stacy Kennedy, 42, was taken into custody after police were sent to the 200 block of West 26th Avenue at 2:35 p.m. and found a screen off a window on the north side of the house.
Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Scott Norton said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Monday that when officers knocked on the door, Kennedy answered but refused to come outside. The resident of the house was contacted and reported that there should have been no male in the house, prompting officers to enter and arrest Kennedy.
The woman who lived in the house told police she and Kennedy had been in a relationship that ended about two months ago and he did not have permission to be in the residence and did not have a key.
Norton reported that when Kennedy was interviewed, he allegedly said the woman had been letting him live in the house, and he entered through the window because he could not find the key that was supposed to be outside.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $!0,000 bond for Kennedy after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with residential burglary.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Kennedy.
