A $15,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly hit and kicked his wife during an altercation.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Ronnie Scott with second offense third-degree domestic battery, a felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Keith Banks, the alleged victim said she and Scott were in Downtown Wig and Fashion Thursday at about 5:43 p.m. when they began to argue. She said Scott told her that the “only way he would buy her a hair weave” was if she performed oral sex on him, and she said she felt “offended and upset” and went home.
Banks reported that the verbal argument continued after she and Scott got home, then turned physical when Scott allegedly hit her in the ribs with a hammer and kicked her in the chest. She went to Jefferson Regional Medical Center to be checked out.
When Scott was interviewed, he allegedly said he was joking, adding that his wife left him in the store and he had to walk home to the 2100 block of East Pullen Street. Scott said when he got home, he started packing his things, but the two began to argue again. He denied hitting her with a hammer, although he had one in his hand, according to the affidavit.
Banks reported that Scott had contusions on his forehead; he also went to the hospital, but Scott said his wife did not hit him. He said the injuries occurred “when some neighborhood kids jumped on him” after the altercation.
Scott was ordered to have no contact with his wife until the case is settled.
